Tuesday, March 9, 2010
• On Saturday, March 13, The Boonshoft will host ShamROCK ’10 from 7:30 to 11
pm. Bring your friends and rock to live local bands, including Bonneville, Good
English, Good English and The Traceless. Win money and other cool stuff in the
life-sized Wright-Patt cash cube, see top music countdown Laser Shows, Dance,
sing Karaoke, play air hockey, foosball and arcade games. Enjoy pizza,
smoothies, the Game Crazy Game Cave, Sumo Wrestling, Laser Quick Draw and
compete in the bouncy Boxing Ring. Check posters in the office for more info.
Admission is $10. Tickets are available at the door, or on the web.
• Seniors: This is a reminder that many of the scholarship applications are due
this week. Please check your guidance bulletins to make sure you have what you
need!
• There will be an Octagon meeting this Tuesday in the cafeteria. This is
mandatory.
• Reminder: Mrs. Ross’s Lunch Bunch Group and Peer Mediators will be meeting at
lunchtime Wednesday in the Cafeteria.
• Prom this year will be held at the Crossroads Convention Center on Poe. Look
for posters with maps once we are in the trailers.
• Seniors: You need to meet with your BSEP advisor this week. It is the
responsibility of the students to make an appointment with BSEP advisors.
• Just a reminder that if you park at Butler High School during the school day,
you must have a parking pass. If you don’t have a parking pass, your vehicle is
subject to be towed at your expense.
Do not use the driveway between the Board of Education Office and the old
Vandalia Elementary building or the Board Office parking lot to drive through
when exiting or entering the parking lot. If caught, you will lose the
opportunity to park at Butler during the school day. The Board Office staff is
turning in license plate numbers of students violating this rule and those
students are losing their parking privileges.

• Juniors who have applied for DECA for next year need to see Mr. Peck at lunch
to arrange a meeting time.
• Any girl interested in trying out for softball needs to see Coach Sigler in
Room 21 for time and locations. Remember that tryouts begin Monday, and you must
have a current physical form on file.
• Reminder that hats, phone and other electronic devices are not to be worn or
used during the Tuesday morning teacher team time.
• Attention JCOWA members: JCOWA meeting today in Room 31.
• Track starts today. We are meeting at 2:30 in the multipurpose room
• Congratulations to the Butler Kickline as they traveled to Centerville High
School to compete this past Saturday, March 6th. They received a superior rating
in the Hip Hop, Pom, Kick and Officer categories, and a high superior in the
Jazz category. They placed 3rd in Pom, 2nd in kick, Hip Hop and Officer, and 1st
in Jazz. Kickline received a High Point Trophy for their Jazz routine. Also,
their captain, Lauren Daidone received 4th place out of 14 captains. Good job
ladies.
• Congratulations to the Girls’ Basketball team. They defeated Lakota West 56-49
Saturday to win the District Championship. They now play Walnut Hills tomorrow
night (Tuesday) at the Nutter Center. Game time is 8 pm. Presale tickets at the
door. Let’s once again show our school spirit and support the team in the
Regional Championships. See you at WSU!

• Cheer tryouts are March 4th and 5th. Come to room 18 and pick up a packet
if you are interested.
• Seniors: If you were photographed by both Easterling and another studio, you
need to stop by Room 206 between 11:55 and 12:25 this week to confirm the
picture you want in the yearbook is the one we have placed on the page.
• There will be a mandatory boys’ tennis meeting this Thursday, March 4th, in
the cafeteria at 2:30.
• There will be an Interact meeting this Thursday in Ms. Filc’s room. Please
come to get your t-shirt.
• Track and field starts next Monday, March 8th. There will be a meeting in the
Multipurpose room at 2:30 before practice.
• The Debate Club will have its first meeting on Friday, March 5th, 2010 at 2:30
pm in Room 17 (Mr. Schreck’s Room). Students will be able to discuss some of
today’s most important topics and increase their political awareness. All are
welcome to attend.
• If you have not picked up your Turnabout pictures or your senior panoramic
picture, you can check in the front office at lunch today.
• Congratulations to the Boys’ Basketball team on a great season and thank you
to the large student section who came out to cheer and support the team last
night.
• Swimmers please dress up for the Banquet tonight, which means ties for guys.

film and television will be offered next Thursday, March 11th at the Muse
studios. Muse alum Curtiss Cook who has appeared in TV productions like Law and
Order, Resuce Me, and the Sopranos, and is currently appearing in Martin
Scorsese’s film Shutter Island will be conducting the workshop. For more info,

• Butler Senior 152 pound wrestler, Connor Spencer, places 4th at the Hilliard
Darby District Wrestling Championships on Saturday. He will represent Butler
High School on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Ohio State Wrestling
Championships at the Schottenstein Center. Also placing in the top six were:
Jesse Myers – 5th and Matt Terry and Jarrod Clauser – 6th.
