Wednesday, September 1, 2010

• Attention all baseball players: Any baseball player that is not playing a fall sport should report to the field on Wednesday after school for fall conditioning workouts.
• Attention basketball players: Basketball workouts will begin this Wednesday from 2:45-4:00 for any boy interested in trying out for the team. The workouts are for boys that are not in a fall sport. See Mr. Kreill if you have any questions.
• Student pre-sale tickets for Friday’s away football game at Tecumseh are on sale in the Athletic Office. They will also be should at lunchtime on Friday. This is student pre-sale tickets only.
• Need a break from back-to-school stress? Guitarist Michael Kelsey will be performing September 9th during period 4 in the SAC. Bring in a canned food item and drop it off at the Muse Machine table at lunch before the 7th to attend the concert. This is a free concert to open students.
• Wrestlers not in a fall sport – Lifting starts today at 3 pm. Meet in the Multi-purpose room. Also, pick up your Football Mania sweepstakes today at lunch from Coach Peck.
• Attention NHS students: Remember that there is a meeting tomorrow at 6:45 in Mrs. Penrod’s room – Pod B room 53. Don’t be late. We have a bunch to discuss.
• Attention Sophomores: Anyone interested in joining student council needs to meet Wednesday, September 8th in Mrs. Amlin’s room, Pod C, room 22 after school. WE will begin planning homecoming at this meeting. If you cannot make the meeting, see Mrs. Amlin BEFORE Wednesday.
• All of Mrs. Flinn’s CP 10 classes report to her room and she will take you to the NWEA tesing.
• Attention Mr. Stevens’ advanced biology students: Bring both your lab manual and lab books to class today.

• Grab a friend and head to Northmont tomorrow night for volleyball. Varsity is starting at 7 pm.

• Registration is now open for Muse Machine. You can pick up membership forms in the SAC lobby at lunch. Also, remember to bring in those canned food items so you can attend the Michael Kelsey concert on September 9th. The deadline to bring in canned goods is September 7th.

• Football JV and Varsity players have weightlifting at 2:30.

• Interested in wrestling for Butler this winter? A quick meeting for all prospective Butler wrestlers will be held after school on Monday, August 30th in Pod A room 60 at 2:25. Fall athletes please attend too. See Coach Peck or Coach Stevens with any questions.

·         Attention all students:  Progressive guitarist Michael Kelsey will be performing in the SAC  on Thursday, September 9th during 4th period.  To attend simply bring in a canned food item.  Items will be collected in the SAC lobby during lunch.  The deadline to bring in items is Tuesday, September 7th.  Muse Machine membership forms will be available in the SAC lobby at lunch starting today.   There will be no online registration this year.

·         School picture day is today in the SAC.  Juniors will be photographed first period, seniors second, freshmen 3rd, and sophomores 4th.  Please report to the SAC at the beginning of your assigned period.  Find the sign that has the first letter of your LAST name on it and be seated in the seats right beside it.  You will be called to line up by last name, so please sit in the correct location.  You need to bring your order form and sign money with you.  As soon as you have been photographed, return to your regular class.

·         Reminder that students should not be going to the middle school after dismissal.  Middle schools are still in session, and stopping by after school interrupts their day.

·         Parking passes will be available next week in the front office.  Availability will be as follows:
100 for Seniors
100 for Juniors
50 for CTC
25 for Sophomores

     Passes will be sold for first semester only.  Please have form
     completed when you come to purchase your pass.

·         Mr. Amlin is looking for one representative from each class to dance, dance, dance for one minute at the pep assembly tomorrow in the SAC.  If you have the moves, come see him in Room 59 of Pod B by the end of school today.

·         The Freshman football team tied with Dunbar last night 14-14.  The Aviators scored with 42 seconds left in the game and then converted the two point play to tie the contest.  Defensively, the Freshmen only allowed one touchdown.  They will be back in action next Thursday at Versailles.

·         School photos and identification badge pictures will be taken Friday morning.  Freshmen, sophomores and juniors interested in ordering school pictures should return the picture form (which you received in first period Tuesday) along with money to the photographer on Friday.

·         The Butler Girls’ tennis team defeated Northmont and Brookville.  The team will play Oakwood at home today at 4:00, and will play at Greenville on Thursday.

·         If you have money that you would like to give to cafeteria for pre-paid lunches, you may turn it in to them today.

·         Reminder that students should not be going to the middle school after dismissal.  Middle schools are still in session, and stopping by after school interrupts their day.

·         As the 2010-2011 school year has gotten under way, we have had an increase in dress code referrals and infractions.  Most of these include short shorts, hats and sagging pants.  Please take a moment this evening to review the dress code so that you are familiar with what is expected of your dress.  Beginning tomorrow, we will be strictly enforcing the dress code.
